When Abigail Dawson is compelled by forces she can’t understand to buy an erotic painting in an antique store, she discovers it’s actually a portal to an alternate universe. Once there, she’s forced to become a sex slave to princes Jarrett and Colton, but quickly gives her heart to them as well as her body.

Jarrett and Colton are descended from one of the true kings of Ashdown. They belong to an elite group of princes who use the magick of the erotic paintings discovered centuries ago to lure women into their world for their unique sexual perversions. But as they take what is their birthright from Abigail, each man loses his heart to her in the process.

When an ancient threat from Ashdown’s enemies turns out to be within their castle walls, Jarrett and Colton become deadly pawns in a race against politics and time to save the woman they love.

Kenna’s Thoughts

Now, this is what I’m talkin’ about!  Leave it to Tara Rose to give me exactly what I’ve been looking for…something unique and different.  I was so excited to get to read this one.

We have Abigail, a heroine who thought she was happy with her life.  She discovers a painting in an antique store and feels drawn to it enough to buy it and take it home.  Queue Twilight Zone music as some really interesting things start happening (trying so hard not to give any of the good stuff away).

Jarrett and Colton are princes.  Hot, handsome, dreamy princes.  Their birthright gives them the ability to use the magick of the paintings to bring something special into their world (killing me not to spoil anything).

I was a teeny tiny bit apprehensive at this point.  Obviously, the Abigail, Jarett, and Colton come together, and sparks fly instantly.  In most of Tara’s books, it’s very nearly love and first sight, and the characters fall deeply right away.  Here, Abigail is seen as somewhat of a sex toy for the men, and I wasn’t sure if I was into that.  It’s not like they were cruel or anything.  Our guys were just taking something they have been raised to think of as theirs.  They chose her.  She’s theirs.  That’s it.  I shouldn’t have worried.  After their first sex scene, it was apparent that Jarett and Colton were falling as hard as Abigail was.

While the three main characters are getting to know each other, we get some exposition about how Abigail got there, the kingdom (and the other kingdoms as well), the history of a rather terrible curse, and the danger lurking outside the castle walls.  This was all very interesting because “Abigail’s Acquiescence” is the first of a series, and we won’t go into the future stories blind.

I do have to tell you that this is a BDSM romance.  That means that there are blindfolds, restraints, floggers, canes, and other delightful implements.  I felt like the scenes were a little more intense than any other Tara Rose book.  That is NOT a bad thing.  Far from it.  Sometimes, a little in your face impact play is a great distraction from real life.  I’d just like to prepare you (and get you excited!) for it.

All in all, I recommend “Abigail’s Acquiescence” to anyone who likes a good fantasy story with some great characters, hot BDSM sex, action, and mystery.  It’s also a great way to start if you’ve never read anything from Tara.  She writes great books, and this one isn’t any different.

About Tara Rose

Tara Rose loves to write about small towns and the quirky people that inhabit them. You’ll find engaging characters, budding romance, intrigue and plenty of hot steamy ménage sex within the pages of her books. You never really know what goes on behind closed doors, but her books will take you there, and leave you panting for more.

When she isn’t writing, Tara spends time with her husband—her real-life hero. She loves to cook, collect antique pottery, and she will read just about anything. Tara also plays the cello, and loves decorating her house for Christmas.
