The tenth book in the bestselling and “outstanding” (Romantic Times) Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series finally reveals for the first time the origins of Gin Blanco’s career as the deadliest of assassins. For the first time, the origins of Gin Blanco’s career as the deadly assassin “the Spider” are revealed in full. In a story that pre-dates the other nine books in the series, Gin Blanco goes through her paces to become the most feared assassin in the Ashland.

Elizabeth’s Thoughts

At the end of HEART OF VENOM, Gin receives a mysterious package. After opening it, Gin immediately is apprehensive. Owen is curious and prompts Gin for the story behind the box. As she tells the tale, we are transported back ten years ago to a time before Gin was The Spider.

THE SPIDER is a flashback story about how Gin became an assassin. I was so glad we get a chance to see Fletcher, her mentor, alive and well again. The story is exciting and also takes on a different tone, reminiscent of the first couple books in the series. I thought it was a smart move to get Gin back to her roots and keep the readers on their toes!
