[Siren Allure: Erotic Paranormal Romance, shape-shifters, light consensual BDSM, HEA] Never mess with the fates... Rebecca Hastings has no intention on settling down with some overpossessive shifter. This fledgling guardian witch might need to have sex to awaken her powers, but surely anyone will do? When Lion Shifter Leon Friars interrupts her outdoor tryst with the college heart throb, she is simultaneously relieved and shocked. This sex-on-legs hunk can't be the boy she grew up with. This Protector makes her want to forget all of her plans, and just submit, and that will never do. Being mated to Rebecca had not been in Leon's plans either, but his lion has spoken. When Rebecca denies the bond between them, a heartbroken and furious Leon allows her to run away. The fates will not be denied, however, and when Rebecca returns years later, Leon has to decide whether he can ever trust her again. Is it too little, too late, or does love conquer all - fates included? ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Doris O’Connor gives us another winner in “Her Lion Protector”.  She’s a master of shifter novels.  They’re hot and sexy, and they’re funny and sweet as well.  Her heroines are always strong, independent women, and her heroes?  GAH!  Handsome, protective, smoking hot Alphas who will do anything to make sure the women they love feel secure and treasured.  I’ve never NOT fallen head over heels for one of her heroes.

Rebecca is a young witch whose powers have yet to be awakened.  As a matter of fact, in order for that to happen, she has to have sex, but not with just anybody.  It has to be her true mate.  Because she doeesn’t want to be tied down, she tries to circumvent that, and decides to have sex with a handsome college boy who is completely unconcerned with her pleasure and is an honest to goodness prick.  Leon, a lion shifter, and Rebecca’s true mate, rushes in to save her from this brute, runs the jerk off, and takes Rebecca to his house to make sure she’s alright and get her cleaned up.  Because I’m not going to give any spoilers, I’ll just say that some things happen that aren’t too pleasant, and Rebecca leaves.  When she returns home several years later, she’s a different person, and so is Leon.

That’s where the story really takes off.  It’s exciting and a little angsty…just enough to move the plot along.  You’ll be caught up in everything and not want to put the book down until you’ve finished.  Rebecca begins to find herself, and Leon is so delightfully noble.  Of course, I can’t go without mentioning the sex scenes.  Doris really gives them all she’s got.  They’re SO hot, and they’re so detailed.  Absolutely nothing is left to the imagination, and wow!  Just…wow!

This is the fourth installment in the “Protectors” series.  It can be read as a stand alone, but the previous three are so good, I recommend that you check them all out.  They’re all full of fantastic main characters, quirky background characters, and a lovely town that would be the perfect place to stop by and visit.

About Doris O’Connor

Glutton for punishment would be a good description for Doris… at least that’s what she hears on an almost daily basis when people find out that she has a brood of nine children, ranging from adult to toddler and lives happily in a far too small house, cluttered with children, pets, dust bunnies, and one very understanding and supportive husband. Domestic goddess she is not.

There is always something better to do after all, like working on the latest manuscript and trying not to scare the locals even more than usual by talking out loud to the voices in her head. Her characters tend to be pretty insistent to get their stories told, and you will find Doris burning the midnight oil on a regular basis. Only time to get any peace and quiet and besides, sleep is for wimps.

She likes to spin sensual, sassy, and sexy tales involving alpha heroes to die for, and heroines who give as good as they get. From contemporary to paranormal, BDSM to F/F, and Ménage, haunting love stories are guaranteed.

I am a lover of alpha males with dirty mouths, strong heroines putting alpha males in their place, and the Chicago Blackhawks. I'm a proud hockey mom who can often be found at the hockey rink cheering on my favorite forward, with my kindle close by.

Loved the review! I, too, am a big fan of Doris’s shifters! I haven’t read this series yet, but it’s on my list to. Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts. 🙂
