The highly anticipated start of a new romantic suspense series from the beloved, USA Today bestselling author of Ten Tiny Breaths.Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him? Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried. The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.

I never miss the opportunity to read a K.A. Tucker book.  She always delivers.  Chasing River is the third book in the Burying Water series and I can say my favorite to date.  When reading K.A. Tucker books, you know you are going to see huge plot twists and beautiful writing.  Add in a hot Irish bartender, a bit of Irish history, the IRA, pipe bombs, a beautiful American finally stepping out of her comfort zone and you get Chasing River.

I have to tell you this one gripped me from the beginning.  I have an unhealthy love for all things Irish.  Strange but true. Anyone who sets out for Ireland in a book probably will hook me up front.  I love history.  I love Irish history and you get just enough dispersed throughout the beginning of the book that left me begging for more.

I adored Amber.  She seemed so real and relatable.  She fits the definition of “good girl” to a tee and she is just looking to find herself by taking a little time away from her home and her career as a nurse.  She decides to travel for a few months and that leads her to Ireland.

River Delaney is a book boyfriend dream…honestly.  A bad boy who learned a valuable lesson and has straightened himself out.  River is a true family guy since he is a bartender at his family’s pub.  He clearly loves his family and country and his devotion is admirable.

An unfortunate even throws Amber and River together.  It causes each of them to question what is important in their lives.  As they get to know each other, they discover not only new things about each other but about themselves.  It is truly a story of two people on journeys of self discovery that somewhere muddled in the middle they fall in love.

I loved Amber and River.  These characters were relatable, devoted, admirable and resilient.  You wanted to sit down and chat with them both.  You want them to be your friends. This is where K.A. Tucker shines in this book.  The characters in the first two books of the series didn’t warm my heart the way these two did and I was sad when I hit the ending.  I even emailed the author in hopes we would get a spin off with River’s brother and a little glimpse back into Amber and River’s lives.  I believe when readers don’t want to let go of characters at the end of the book, you know you have written a story that resonates.
