Bring the Heat is Jo Davis’ latest Sugarland Blue novel, featuring Captain Austin Rainey and Medical examiner Laura Eden, can be read as a standalone. Austin has had a tough break of it lately and in the middle of a divorce when he experiences an unspeakable tragedy. One of the only people who can bring him out is Laura Eden, the woman he’s wanted for years. As more bodies pile up both of them try and figure out who’s targeting Austin and why before other people get hurt.
Jo Davis writes a good story, and the mystery about who wants Austin hurt is interspersed throughout the burgeoning relationship between the two characters. Austin has been hurt before, and Laura is the perfect person to help bring him back to life again. The story kept me guessing until the very end, and it was a nice addition to the Sugarland Blue series.
