The explosively passionate new Deadly Ops novel from Katie Reus, the New York Times bestselling author of Edge of Danger.
After being wounded in action, NSA agent Nathan Ortiz comes home to Miami, eager to return to duty. But he doesn't expect his newest mission to lead him straight to the one woman he loved, lost, and has never gotten over.
A beautiful, successful restaurateur, Amelia Rios enjoys giving back to her community, especially to struggling women. Then a woman she recently hired stops showing up for work, and, unfortunately, she isn’t the first to go missing.
Soon Amelia finds herself thrust into a shadowy, dark world, working side by side with Nathan, the only man she’s ever loved. They must confront old feelings as they battle a ruthless enemy preying on the poor and weak. The heat simmering between Nathan and Amelia could mean a second chance for them—but first they have to survive.

If you are a fan of romance, hot alpha males, beautiful strong heroine with lots of suspense and action then Kathy Reus books are definitely for you.  Covert Affair 5 book in her Deadly Ops series is filled with all of the above and then some.

Nathan Ortiz a former Marine has been recruited by the NSA as part of their deadly special ops team.  Nathan has a near death experience that makes him realize that he has some unfinished business with the 1 girl that broke his heart.  Flashforward a month; when an op in his home town of Miami comes his way he unexpectantly is faced with the girl and the feelings resurface quickly.

Amelia Rios changed her name as a way to move forward from her past; attends a benefit auction and comes face to face with the man she left but has not forgot.  She is involved with the man Nathan and his team suspect is involved with women disappearing in Miami and quite a few of them worked in Amelia’s resturant.  Which makes her on the list as well.  Amelia seeing Nathan again rekindles old feelings that she thought was buried but also feelings of guilty on how and why she left him all those years ago.

I have to say I really enjoy Kathy Reus’s writing style.  She does a great job explaining what is going on with out over symplifying things or over explaining things.  She does write in mulitple POV’s that include not only the two main characters but also some of the bad guys as well which I do enjoy.   I also like that she writes in 3rd person so you get their POV plus some true narrative.  The book is fast paced with a great balance of action and romance, for those who enjoy this genre I would think would enjoy.  This being the second book of the series I have read this series is stand alone – that being said I have enjoyed seeing glimpses of the previous characters and will go back and read the 3 books I have missed.

Overall this is a great story filled with a little bit of everything that is a definite page turner.
