Serena, an artist and widow, has no desire for another husband. When she meets Geoffrey Austen, attraction sizzles to a scorch. Stolen days and nights ignite forbidden passion. Geoffrey asks Serena to be his mistress, but she wants commitment, love and marriage, not an affair with a notorious rake.
Geoffrey realizes Serena might be the one woman who can care for his tortured soul, and maybe release his demons. The magic they shared is shattered when he learns she has been forced into an engagement with another. He vows to save her even at the cost of his own life.
Will Geoffrey’s gallantry prove he truly loves Serena? If he survives, will Serena surrender all to him?

A lot of spice and that’s what makes this book so very, very nice. Kathryn Darrell is a merry widow.  Her former husband, who was very fond of other ladies, finally died and left her free.  Kathryn is determined to exercise her rights as a widow to find out what true lovemaking is.  She married for love once and was made a fool.  She is determined to remain unattached and explore the carnal lifestyle.

Ryder Blake, unbeknownst to him, is Kathryn’s designated tour guide to the sensual delights she was refused during her marriage.  Her only task is to get Ryder on board and out of his self-imposed exile from love.

I love the author’s description of the antics between Ryder and Kathryn.  I felt like I was right there.  Some of antics made me laugh hysterically and others made me feel mortified for Kathryn and Ryder.  I was immediately drawn into the storyline, and I took the entire ride with Kathryn and Ryder.  I know there are other books in this book series.  I haven’t read them, but I hope they involve a lot of the other colorful characters I met in this book.  I don’t think I have ever read a book with such lively background characters.

Whether you are looking for hot, steamy romance, a quick laugh, or an escape from reality you will definitely find it between the pages of this book.
