You Need A Good Foundation
Lindsey Morales is a decorating genius with a natural flair for design and an eye for a bargain. As a contributor to a popular lifestyle blog, she can take anything from trash to treasure—except for her own life. Burned once, and badly, she's more than twice shy, especially when it comes to the breathtaking builder who broke her heart…
Before You Can Build Happily Ever After
Architect Derek Walsh has made a name for himself designing sleekly modern buildings, but when renovating a hundred-year-old farmhouse gives him the chance to see Lindsey again, he jumps at it. Still dreaming about her after eight long years apart, he'll do anything to prove that he's serious about spending the future with her. Can he convince sassy, stubborn Lindsey that they can DIY their own happy ending?

I first have to say I love second chance romance and this one is a good one.  Book 3 in the Hearts and Crafts series is a stand alone but does bring back other characters from the first two books.  I haven’t read the first books in the series – I did feel a little lost in the beginning but was able to quickly figure things out.

Lindsey Morales is alone and it’s Valentine’s day – her 2 best friends have found love and Lindsey thought she had it once 8 years ago but that boy broke her heart into a million pieces.  The problem is that her best friend Anne’s fiancé’s best friend Derek is that boy and now he is back in her life as the architect who is building Anne’s dream home and Lindsey is the decorator.   Oh and Lindsey is the maid of honor and Derek is the best man at the wedding.  At this point, Lindsey wants nothing to do with Derek but every time she turns around he is there which is starting to bring up old feelings that really never went away.

Derek Walsh has had to make some difficult choices in his live – giving up cartooning and going into architecture because his father demanded it; the worst though was giving up Lindsey for a life he wanted but didn’t.  Breaking Lindsey’s heart has been something Derek has been thinking about for 8 long years and when he has the chance to be in her life again he jumps at it knowing that Lindsey is still hurting – all he wants to do is make it up to her if she will let him.

The story between Lindsey and Derek is well written and I really enjoyed it.  Told in dual 3rd person POV’s it gives great insight on what these characters are thinking and feeling – the author does a great job her.  My only critic really is that I would have loved to have heard more about Derek and his relationship with his family.  The author touches on that in pieces throughout the book but as the reader, it was difficult for me to understand why Derek made the choices in life he did and really what prompting it from his family.  I think that insight would have held developed Derek even more.

Overall this was a fun quick read that is a perfect summer romance.
