As an Air Force medic, Bree Marks saw the worst the War on Terror had to dish out. Now a physical therapist, she uses her experience to help other veterans heal from their physical wounds; while she battles her own emotional damage.
Blaming himself for his best friend’s suicide, former Army Ranger Jase Larken, retreated from life. To honor his best friend’s memory and assuage his guilt, he started an outdoor adventure company to help veterans with PTSD.
Bree had better things to do than catch her cheating fiancé in bed with another woman. Jase is something better - for a night at least. For the first time in years, Jase wanted more. When he finds her again, he doesn’t give her another chance to run.
Jase’s possessiveness grates on Bree’s independent nature. She’s dealt with her fair share of alpha-male, door kickers and doesn’t need one telling her what to do now. But as a new danger emerges, Bree and Jase must face their pasts, before someone's obsession with Bree destroys any chance they have of a future.

This story was a delightful surprise.  I found myself immediately connecting with the story and characters and I knew after reading a few pages, I was going to enjoy this wonderfully written story.  It has everything I love in a good book; a lot of chemistry between the characters, suspense, a sexy, protective alpha male, a strong, feisty heroine, an engaging story and interesting secondary characters.

Bree Marks is a physical therapist working with veterans and Jase Larken runs  V. E. T.  Adventures, an outdoor adventures company for veterans.  Jase and Avery have both served in the military, although they were in different branches,  Avery was in the medical unit in the Air Force and Jase was an Army Ranger.  They both have scars from their tours in the Middle East and want to help other returning veterans who are having a tough time acclimating after their tours of duty.

When Jase and Bree meet they instantly hit it off and there are a lot of sparks flowing between them. Bree is hesitant to get involved with Jase but once he meets her, he is a man on a mission and won’t allow Bree to back off. I really liked these two together and their verbal dialogue and teasing attitude. I fell in love with Jase along with Bree. He is a sexy, dirty talking guy and he made this story irresistible.  He is a confident, demanding, protective alpha male and always attentive to Bree and never interested in any other women.  Bree has many qualities I admire, she is smart, feminine and tough. She knows how to take care of herself and she has guns and knows how to use them.

The dialogue and Jase’s confident attitude are what help make this story so good. I enjoyed this story so much I never wanted it to end.  My only complaint is I would have liked an epilogue with more information about Jase and Bree’s future. This is the first book the author has written and I look forward to reading more.  If you are a fan of Kristen Ashley, you will enjoy this story.  Jase reminded me of one of Kristen Ashley’s hot, protective, sexy, action men.
