This is my first RC Boldt book, but it won’t be my last!
Foster Kavanaugh is a retired Navy SEAL and owner of a security company, he’s been secretly lusting after his office manager, Noelle, for the better part of a year when an abusive ex resurfaces causing his protective instincts to kick in.
I loved Foster and Noelle! They had a fun, snarky working relationship prior to the initial break of Noelle’s home. It doesn’t take long for the time spent together to protect Noelle ignites the sparks between the two.
Watching the blossoming relationship, that both seemed to resist, was both heartwarming and a little sad. Noelle’s previous relationship seriously damaged her self-esteem and Foster was wonderful about letting her see what she meant to him. Foster’s military experience left him feeling that he wasn’t capable of love, but every interaction between him and Noelle, his mother, and sister all proved otherwise. I think he may be one of my favorite book heros!
Noelle was a pretty great heroine too. Even with every reason to be concerned and cautious, she still put herself out there and let herself fall in love again. She was even brave enough to walk away when she didn’t think he loved her back.
As great as Noelle and Foster are, part of their appeal is the secondary cast of family and friends that support them. In Foster’s case, his friends and coworkers are also key to him getting his act together. Overall, this was a fun book. By turns, it was sweet and snarky, romantic, sexy, with just a little bit of intrigue. I’m not sure if Out of Love is part of a series, but there is a cast of characters that I would enjoy getting to know better in the future.
