five-stars

This hard-bodied football star is used to scoring. But he needs all the right moves to get past a fiery redhead’s defenses in a steamy standalone novel from the bestselling author of Ruined.
Emerson: Talk about bad first impressions. I have too much riding on this job to show up late on my first day looking like the winner of a wet T-shirt contest, all thanks to an arrogant quarterback who drives like he owns the road. Hunter Browning thinks that because he’s famous, he can fix everything with a smile and a wave of his hand. He’s too bronzed, buff, and beautiful for his own good. Or mine. I can’t let on that I’m a fan . . . no matter how much fun we’d have in the sack.
Hunter: Hitting that puddle was my best play since winning the Super Bowl with a touchdown pass. Sure, it’s not my preferred way to get a girl wet, but I’ll make an exception for Emerson Day. She’s got a sharp tongue and a red-hot temper, even with her soaking clothes plastered to her every curve. Now I know exactly what my next play will be: hire Emerson as my personal real-estate agent, save her job—and see if I can take her off the market.

I love sports romances, so I was excited to read DOWN AND DIRTY.  Tracy Wolff made this story believable and the characters realistic and it made me feel like I was right there with them and I never wanted to leave.

Hunter is the quarterback for the San Diego Lightening and has been playing professional football for nine years.  Right now, he is going through a tough, emotional time and needs to buy a house.

Emerson has just graduated from college and on her first day as a real estate agent, she meets Hunter.  Emerson can barely pay her bills and she needs the this job badly.   But, of course, life doesn’t get any easier for Emerson when her boss takes an instant dislike to her when Hunter requests Emerson to show him some houses.   As Emerson and Hunter spend time together looking for houses, they fall for each other.

Hunter finds Emerson at the perfect time in his life.  She brings stability and strength when he needs it the most.  She cares about Hunter, the man and not what he can give her because he is a professional football player.  On the outside Hunter seems like a cocky, arrogant  athlete but once you get to know him and his situation, you realize he is a thoughtful, sensitive guy going through a lot of bad stuff.  Hunter is dealing with a lot of things right now in his life and there is something about Emerson that calls to him.  He is an emotional mess and Emerson settles him.

I really enjoyed this story and the characters. Hunter is a big, macho football player but he is also sweet, charming and vulnerable.  He is attracted to Emerson’s smart mouth.  She doesn’t let him get away with anything and she loves to give him a hard time.  Yes, their relationship did move fast, but I didn’t mind.  It still worked for me.  I loved everything about these two and their chemistry is off the charts.  They are both smart and self assured but also have their insecurities, too.  They had an intense connection and there are some very hot sex scenes. This is a beautiful story about love, loss and dealing with the curveballs life sends you and how having someone beside you, can help you deal with anything.  This story is magical.
