Fresh off a divorce from a Hollywood hotshot, Madison Atwood needs an escape. With the paparazzi fresh on her heels and her love life splashed on every tabloid, she runs away to a swanky retreat in Northern California. Avalon Springs is the mountainside haven she needs to find herself again.

Luke Dawson lives off the grid, preferring solitude to society. When he finds a beautiful woman soaking in the hot springs on his property, he can’t stop himself from watching her. She captures his attention, but she’s just a city girl—a beautiful distraction disturbing the peace he’s settled here to find.

When Madison discovers Luke’s secluded cabin, he can’t turn her away again. They make no promises. Madison needs to feel wanted again, and Luke misses the touch of a woman. But when mother nature has other plans, they’re forced to spend more than a night of passion together. Can Luke say goodbye to the only woman who’s made him feeling anything in years, and can Madison leave behind the man who brought her back to life?

I really enjoy both Chelle Bliss and Meredith Wild books – so when I heard that Ms Wild was doing a new series and bringing in favorite romance authors to co write with her I knew I was in and The Misadventures of a City Girl is the first in the new series.

Madison needs to get away from her life – her messy divorce final she needs to get out of LA and regroup and going up to Avalon in Northern California seems like the perfect escape.  Then she meets mountain man Luke Dawson (in the most embarrassing way possible) and her 4-week trip to regroup turns into something she never expected.  The sex is off the charts but their lifestyles are so different but her feelings are real.

Luke tried real life and it was obvious to him that he just doesn’t fit in anywhere.  An ex Navy Seal he has seen the worst of the worse and his nightmares haunt him.  So he does the only thing he can by hiding away in the mountains – it’s the only way to keep everyone safe that is until he meets Madison.  She is making him feel things he thought was long dead inside of him – the problem is she is a city girl and he can’t ask her to move to the mountains for him how can they make it work?

City Girl is a fast paced story that doesn’t hold anything back from page one.  The combination of Ms Wild and Ms Bliss writing styles flows well together and is seamless.   Told in dual POV’s we get to see the events from both Madison and Luke’s sides along with their individual insecurities and struggles.  I would have liked to have a little more about the PTSD struggles that Luke was experiencing – its touched upon but never fully explored and I do think that was a missed opportunity.

All in all, I think that City Girl is a great first book in what should be a fun series.
