What happens when a bad-boy celebrity rocker meets a small-town bestselling novelist? Find out in this first book in the sizzling new True series by Liora Blake! While most novelists would consider jetting off to Hollywood for a TV interview rather exciting, small-town Montana writer Kate Mosely finds it all a bit exhausting. After losing her husband in a car accident where she was behind the wheel, Kate has finally found her bearings in the world again, rebuilding a simple but stable life. And even if that means a lot of lonely nights watching old movies and quiet days writing obituaries for her hometown newspaper, Kate’s not sure she’s ready for her life to change—again.Until she shares the stage—and a whole heap of carnal gazes—with rock star Trevor “Trax” Jenkins. Despite his intimidating on-stage bravado, underneath it Kate discovers a man with a Rilke poem tattooed on his arm, an appreciation for cronuts, and a snarky wit that matches her own.As she and Trevor explore their heated chemistry, the scarred parts of Kate’s heart begin to heal, making room for a love so passionate it makes her want long-forgotten things equal parts naughty, heart-swelling, and joyful. But when a searing exposé in a trashy gossip magazine sends Kate running, will it threaten their chances at forever?

Shannon’s Thoughts

When I read the blurb for TRUE NORTH I figured I’d give the rocker/author romance a try.  What I discovered was a new author who’s now on my watch list and one of my favorite books for 2015.

Kate Mosely is a small town author who’s thrust on the interview circuit when the book she wrote after her husband’s death becomes a best seller.  One of those interviews introduces her to Trax, an Eminem type of music star.  What she discovers is Trax is more comfortable as Trevor, the guy who doesn’t want to be seen as the punk kid he was before.

Liora Blakes takes us on a witty journey as we follow Kate and Trevor’s relationship.  There were many times were I laughed out loud at some of the things Kate got herself into.  But there were just as many equally emotional and sexy times to make this a book that is absolutely hard to put down.  I look forward to more from this author.

Interview

Tell us about yourself.

Thanks so much for having me! I’m a writer, living in Colorado, and I make my home with a very patient husband and one totally lazy dog.

What three things about you might surprise your readers?

– I’ve never been to a bar.

– I consider manicures and pedicures to be a very specific brand of torture and do my best to avoid them.

– I don’t ski and I hate hiking (these topics inevitably come up immediately after I say I’m from Colorado).

Is there a genre(s) that you think “I might like to write one of those.”?

That’s how I ended up writing this book!

Tell us about TRUE NORTH.

TRUE NORTH is a contemporary romance about a small town writer who crosses paths with a rough-around-the-edges and larger-than-life rock star, only to discover they have more in common than anyone would guess.

What do you think readers will like/love about Kate and Trevor?

TRUE NORTH is pretty light on the angst, so I hope these two seem approachable and authentic. And, I’d love if readers responded to the easy banter between Kate and Trevor. I really liked writing their early exchanges, with the sightly awkward and playful way they interact.

What was your favorite scene from the book?

The trail running date is a favorite of mine. It has a bit of everything: banter, smolder, tension…and some slightly sweaty tension relieving mischief.

Who are some of your book boyfriends?  What draws you to them?

If he was created by Tessa Bailey, Christina Lauren, or Kylie Scott, I’m likely a fan. Any stubborn, swoony-worthy smart ass is an easy bet.

If you had to pick a favorite cocktail of choice, what would it be?  (It can be non-alcoholic too)

I’m usually a red wine drinker, but if we’re talking cocktails, I do like a good Paloma.

What’s next for you?

The entire TRUE series is complete and all the titles will release in 2015, so I’m working away on the first book in a new series called SECOND ACT EXCEPTIONS. It follows an NFL wide receiver struggling with the end of his now injury-plagued career, only to meet an organic apple farming hippie girl who just might give him a real future off the field.
