Jill Shalvis is one of my go to authors for Alpha heros, stronger than they think heroines, and hefty doses of humor.
Accidently on Purpose is Book 3 in the Heartbreak Bay series and follows Archer and Elle, both of whom have been secondary characters in the previous books, as they figure out what kind of relationship they really have.
While this is a stand-alone effort, Archer and Elle’s snarky banter and tension filled interactions in the previous books provide the background needed to jump start this particular story.
This is a typical Shalvis effort. Archer and Elle are both well written and entertaining characters with somewhat complicated histories. Insecurities, miscommunications, and lots of hidden attraction color their interactions until things reach a boiling point. The secondary cast is filled with previous feature couples and a growing network of associates and friends. Ms. Shalvis excels at easing new characters into the growing cast in such a way that readers have a chance to get to know them gradually.
I enjoyed this addition to the Heartbreak Bay series and am looking forward to seeing what happens with the rest of Elle and Archer’s friends.
