18599802Coen Steele has spent the last five years serving his country. Now that he’s back, he’s finally ready to leave behind the chaos of the battlefield and pursue his lifelong dream. What he wasn’t expecting was the feisty sister of one of his battle buddiesβ€”who has made it obvious that she wants nothing to do with himβ€”to intrigue him in a way no woman has before.

Reagan Hudson’s life changed in the blink of an eye six years ago when she found out she was pregnant and on her own. Since then, Reagan has vowed never to let another man into her life so that no one can walk out on her, or her son, again. But the more she runs into her brother’s hot and mysterious friend, the more he sparks something in her that she promised herself she wouldn’t feel again.

Can two people with everything to lose allow themselves to finally capture the love they both deserve?

Reviewer’s Thoughts

I enjoy a good Molly McAdams book, so I was eager to read this novella that is a prequel to the start of a new series.

Reagan is hard not to love as a heroine. She is unbelievably strong and self sufficient. Β I always admire single mothers since I am not one and have a husband that does beyond his 50% and I still struggle. Β Reagan has sacrificed her life for her son’s. Β She has closed herself off from men because she doesn’t want her heart or her son’s heart to be broken.

Coen is a man who knows what he wants and goes for it. Β He has an instant connection to Reagan and he doesn’t let her push him away. Β Coen’s only complication is he is a soldier with PTSD. Β He isn’t dealing with it and it causes him many sleepless nights. Β Being with Reagan seems to lessen the despair but he doesn’t talk about it with anyone. Β His love for Reagan and her son is truly heart warming and when he makes a huge mistake at the end, he fights to right it and win her back. Β Men like him don’t come around everyday and I choose to believe they exist.

Coen and Reagan’s story was easy to dive into and had a great HEA. Β People will enjoy this heart warming story. Β I look forward to the rest of the series.

CnB About the Author

Molly grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband and furry four-legged daughters. When she’s not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach … which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies, fried pickles and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm … or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren’t really happening.
