Along the way each of the men have discovered someone other than revenge to give their lives meaning, now it’s Beckett’s turn. Beckett has been living a half life since his military career ended on a sour note. He suffers not only survivor’s guilt, but the knowledge that his best friend would never have lost his leg if he hadn’t gone back to save his life and he guards those thoughts well. He guards his feelings so well in fact that he comes across as cold and unemotional to everyone except Kat. The two of them are like oil and water, barely able to be in the same room without sniping at each other. Yet beneath the sarcasm and digs at each other there is an underlying current of desire. The moment these two finally decide to follow through the air is practically combustible.

I loved that Kat was able to bring Beckett out of his head. She didn’t change who he was, but made him see that he was worth it. He was worth the sacrifice by his best friend and she was worthy of her. Kat makes him want to be a batter man. And in reality isn’t that what they all wanted when they met the one woman that made everything worth the sacrifices they were making in order to reveal the truth?

Revelations even I wasn’t expecting came about. Enemies no longer enemies but possible allies and new threats are revealed. The never ending action in Hard to Let Go will make this hard to put down. I am extremely happy with the outcome and the happily ever afters in each and every one of the books in this series, but I’ll miss the men of Hark Ink.
