Reviewer’s Thoughts

Laura Simicox writes a short and sweet story with just enough tension to make the reader want to read more.   Each book in this series is about a different daughter of the president of the United States and now we finally learn Georgia’s story, the youngest sibling.  Georgia’s a senior in college and excited she’s finally achieving her goal and starting an internship at a Memphis TV station. Unfortunately, once Georgia starts her internship, real life slaps her in the face when she meets the boss from hell.

Georgia is disappointed when she learns her first assignment is interviewing a baseball player.  She doesn’t know anything about baseball and wants to sink her teeth into hard news.   When she meets Brett, the sexy catcher for the Memphis Redbirds, sparks immediately fly between them.  However, even though Brett is attracted Georgia, he lets her know he has no interest in being interviewed.  I like Brett and Georgia and their chemistry is off the charts.  I found it easy to connect with them, even though they are celebrities, they are down to earth and hard working.  I love all the banter between Brett and his teammates.  They are a tight knit group and their jokes, pranks and trash talking had me laughing out loud many times.  This is a charming, fun and sexy story.   It’s the third and last book in The Various States of Undress series and a stand-alone.

I’m so happy to be returning as a guest on Cocktails and Books. One of my fave blogs, for sure! Today I’m going to talk about a burning, important question:

Just how DOES a daughter of the president of the United States fall in love while the paparazzi is watching her every move? And more: she’s under 24/7 Secret Service protection, so when things start to heat up with her hero, how does she…um…you know?

I’ll tell you. She’s smart and creative and when the time is right, NOTHING will stop her from getting her man. Let’s ask Carolina, Virginia and Georgia what they did…

Laura: Carolina, you and Jake were holed up in a cabin in a snowstorm. Nobody watching. Come on now…how hard was it, really, to seduce him?

Carolina: *rolling her eyes a little* Seriously? It took ages…or at least it seemed that way to me. Jake was my Secret Service agent! He wasn’t about to cross the line. Ever. Until….well. The pancake incident. *blush* He made them for me, and I thanked him with a perfectly innocent smile. And then I licked some syrup and he stared at me. I stared back. What happened after that is… *bigger blush*

Laura:  Is….epic. *sigh* Now, Virginia, you’re a sly one. Tell me about how you seduced Dex.

Virginia: *huge grin* Well, we were in the back of the Secret Service SUV, being driven around Manhattan, right? And I wanted him so bad, I couldn’t take it anymore. So I got out a little notebook and pretended to write some stuff down about our *big air quotes* business plans. You should have seen the look on sexy Dexy’s face when he read my note. Lol! Then I wrote something else that may or may not have been shocking and by the time we got back to my apartment for our business meeting… *grin* Yeah.

Laura: Yeah. Whew! So…Georgia—my sweet overachiever. You never do anything halfway, do you? Including seduce Brett.

Georgia: Oh, are you talking about Vegas? *blink* And how I showed up at his hotel room in my swimming suit intending to go to the pool with him? But when I saw the look in his eyes, I had trouble breathing, so I needed to lay down? What about it?

Laura: Mm-hmm. All three of you are shameless, which is a good thing. You deserve all of the love, fun and happiness you’ve found with your delicious guys. And big hugs for sharing your stories with romance readers!
