From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a sexy, STANDALONE second-chance romance.
They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie.
Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right? So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.
At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.Everyone wanted a piece of the hot single father of the sweet little boy. I was riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know thatβ€”to meβ€”he was much more. They didn’t know about our past. He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.
As my friend Lorelai so eloquently put it: β€œUnfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.
I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with another man just to protect my heart. Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.
And soon I might be breaking all the rules.
Author's note – Told in alternating points of view, Mack Daddy is a full-length standalone novel.

Lucy’s Review

Mack Daddy by Penelope Ward is a second chance friends to lovers story about two former friends separated by previous circumstances. Roommates Mack and Frankie grew closer when they were together in Boston, but they never moved beyond friendship despite their growing attraction because Mack was already in a committed relationship. He’s back in Boston with an ex-girlfriend and a son, and wants a second chance with the girl he wanted but let get away.

This was an interesting book, but I felt like something was missing. All the elements were there, and I liked Frankie and Mack, and Mack’s son was adorable. It just seemed like there wasn’t a lot to the plot other than Mack’s somewhat strange tendencies to follow Frankie around until she says yes. Other than that it was the two of them rehashing their past, although I felt there was a good balance between past and present. There were a lot of characters, some who seemed to be extraneous and didn’t add to the core story of Mack and Frankie. Also, the ending felt very flushed and a bit unbelievable at times. Despite this I did find it to be a quick read without a ton of angst overall and I would recommend if you’re looking for something quick and uncomplicated to read.

Shannon’s Review

Penelope Ward gave us a very enjoyable second chance, friends to lovers romance. Β There wasn’t much I didn’t like about Frankie and Mack. Β From the moment the two of them “meet” in the book I knew this was going to a couple I would thoroughly enjoy.

Frankie and Mack were roommates in college, a relationship that quickly spiraled into them becoming close friends and ultimately feelings developing between the two. Β But when Mack’s life back in DC gets in the way of whatever was happening between the two of them, both are left somewhat devastated. Β Fast-forward seven years and we discover Mack has finagled his son’s way into Frankie’s classroom and he’s determined this time he and Frankie are going to get it right.

There isn’t much not to like about Mack and Frankie, except for their ability to pick the worst timing ever. Β Despite Frankie’s hurt feelings and Mack’s guilty ones, they managed to pick up their friendship rather quickly. Β While Mack didn’t pull any punches on why he was in Boston and Frankie made it clear she was with someone else, the draw between the two of them was undeniable. Β This made for some fantastic sexual tension throughout the story and had me waiting patiently for the two of them to remove all the obstacles and find a way to be together.

If Β you’re looking for a read that’s a little funny, sexy and with a little angst mixed in MACK DADDY is definitely one to pick up.
