Elijah Reynolds is the most dominant of lycans, a rare Alpha whose skill on the hunt is surpassed only by his primal sexuality. When the lycans revolt due to the iron fist of angelic rule, he steps into command, becoming both enemy and coveted ally in the conflict between vampires and angels.

Vashti is the second most powerful vampire in the world, a lethal beauty with a path of devastation in her wake. Tasked with proposing an alliance between vampires and the lycans who killed her mate, Vash approaches Elijah, whose need to avenge a friend demands Vash’s death even as his passion demands her surrender.

Soon, their enmity erodes beneath an all-consuming desire. Elijah has never encountered a woman whose warrior spirit and fierce sexual appetite rivals his own, while Vash is faced with the one man strong enough to be her equal. But as war looms, each must decide where their loyalty lies–with their own kind or with the enemy lover they can no longer live without.

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

This is book #2 in the Renegade Angels series it is not recommended you read this as a stand alone, reading the books in order is far better.

Vashti is the second to the most powerful vampire around, Syre, the leader of the Fallen or vampires, she is dedicated to her job as Syre’s fist when he needs something done. Vashti has dedicated herself to her job since losing her mate to Lycans and her biggest goal is to find and take out the Lycans responsible for her mates death.

Elijah Reynolds, the new alpha of the recently revolted Lycan packs, is the reluctant leader to Lycans all across the country. The Lycans  have finally broken free of the grasp of the Sentinel, the angels in charge or reigning in rogue Fallen. The Lycan have been indentured servants to the Sentinel for decades and while it wasn’t Elijah who started the revolt he is the Alpha of the pack and he will lead them.

When an outbreak of the Wraith virus starts to sweep across the US Vashti is sent as the liaison to the Lycans with the idea of forming an alliance so that the Lycans can help track the beginning of the outbreak and help the Fallen find a cure.  Elijah and Vashti have instant chemistry and while they should mix like oil and water its more like gasoline and a match.  Elijah and Vashti must overcome their own issues with the other species as well as the inherent prejudiced they encounter from those in the groups they lead .

I really need to stress if you haven’t read the first book this second is going to be very hard to follow, a lot of the back story and relationship between the characters is based from the first book.
With that being said, A Hunger So Wild is a steamy read with more vampire/lycan sex than you can shake a stick at. These to characters are hot for each other everywhere and anywhere.  The characters are both in leadership positions on different sides of a war brewing that is not of their creation. This story follows the development of the relationship between them as it goes from totally hormonal to completely in love.

I enjoyed the world Ms. Day has created here and the creation of vampires and lycans is explained and is well worked into the story as a point of conflict. The underlying theme of racial tolerance is just that underlying it isn’t the main thrust of the story just a factor in the roller coaster the characters are on.  The racial divide  is used effectively as a consideration but never as a means to keep the lovers apart.  The story is exciting and well written however don’t expect to walk away from this on with all your happily ever afters in place.

I give A Hunger So Wild a 4 out of 5 cocktails!
