Reviewer’s Thoughts:

To begin, this is the first book in a spin-off series from the author’s Primal Instinct series.  Having never read the Primal Instinct books, I found myself a little lost when it came to some of the background involved with the characters, but discovered that it didn’t prevent me from enjoying this very well written story.

Having previously fallen in love with the wrong vampire in her youth, Juliana and her family are still suffering from her choice.  Living in a desolate wasteland, Juliana discovers that she and her family’s lives are in danger.  Left with no other choice, Juliana sets out to find Ashe, the only vampire she knows that can help her and her family.

Ashe is gorgeous.  He is cautious and has a very hard time trusting.  So when he is faced with Juliana’s request to help her out, he does so with reservations.  His attraction to her, however, puts him in a precarious situation.  Venturing out together, the two of them fight assassins, tough situations, and their feelings for one another.

Packed full of action, mystery, gore, and sensually erotic moments, this book is fantastic.  The characters are raw, real and deep.  Their pasts and the inner conflicts that they must work through to find happiness with one another are touching.  The story flows smoothly and keeps you engaged, leaving you eagerly anticipating every turn of the page.  Having read this book, I HAVE to read the author’s Primal Instincts series.  If it’s anything like this one, I’m in for one heck of a good time!
