He hunts nightmares. She survives them.

Green Pines, Book 2

Lorelei Adams has lost many things–her humanity, her life, even her son. She’s always fought through her exhaustion, always stayed strong for her pack, but now there are new alphas to take care of the others. Unfortunately, time to rest means time to think about her own pain.

Colin Knox knows about exhaustion. He’s acted as judge, jury and executioner to rogue wolves for over a decade, but never lingered long enough to help the survivors pick up the pieces–until now. Lorelei rouses his instincts, both protective and carnal. She’s willing, but only to indulge in physical distraction. Colin wants more, to be the hero who slays her monsters.

Especially when it becomes clear that malicious magic is loose in their sanctuary. The danger draws them together until it’s impossible to separate lust from affection, good intentions from rationalizations. Darkness is stirring at Green Pines. If they can’t fight it together, they could lose everything they have left.

Warning: Contains a weary vigilante hero looking for a place to call home and a stubborn werewolf heroine unwilling to admit she needs help. Also appearing: small town prejudices, big city dangers, naked chases through the woods and ghosts. Lots of ghosts.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

This was my first Moira Rogers book, and Haunted Wolves is the second story in the Green Pines series. I was able to follow along with the story even though I haven’t read the first book. I enjoyed discovering a new werewolf story. I will admit that without reading the first that there were the occasional moments of confusion, but nothing too confusing that stopped me from enjoying this book.

I liked Colin from the beginning. He just had this strong personality so full of strength. When Lorelei called him Batman, I wanted to get to know him more, I needed to know why she saw him as Batman. He’s so set on protecting Lorelei that he even thinks he needs to protect her from him.

Lorelei is hurting, she’s obviously worked so hard to protect and heal all the other wolves who depended on her that she never she had a chance to heal herself. She had this inner strength and caring personality that endeared her to me. The way she can’t help her attraction to Colin, and trusts him enough to tempt him to give in to their lust made me smile. Every time she tempted him, I cheered her on.

There is the delicious attraction between these two, all while there are some serious things happening around them. The supporting characters add layers and depth to this story. I would seriously consider picking up the first book and reading any future books in this series. I found myself wanting to know the other pack members stories and what happens next. I recommend this to lovers of shifter erotic romances with great plots.
