Dressed in her black designer suit, Paige Brown recruits men and women for the Space Service. After the end of her marriage, and several failed recruiting missions, she yearns to find a way out of her lifelong contract to live a normal life. To find love again.
Jared Barnes’s life had been flipped upside down by two little kids. When his former Commander’s wife shows up to give him a reprieve, he jumps at the chance for a break, and to visit his former squad. But it is not his buddies he meets in the private suite at the hockey game, instead a woman who has been the star of all of his recent fantasies.

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Paige Brown had her life planned she and her husband signed life time contracts with the Space Service, to bad her husband didn’t look at their marriage as a life time commitment.  Paige is unhappy with her life, her job and most of all her love life.

Jared Barnes was an ideal candidate for the Space Service, no wife, no kids just a sister in another state. How was Paige to know that Jared had retired from the military to take on the roll of father to his now orphaned niece and nephew.

Instant attraction happens when Paige tries to recruit Jared and he answers the door in just a towel not that anything will happen because Paige is working and Jared has to get ready for his new family to arrive. Neither has time for a social life. Enter Madam Eve and Jared’s commanding officers wife. Who knows what magic Madam Eve uses to always set up the right people in the right place and time.

As with all the One Night Stand books this is novella length and features the match making magic of Madam Eve. This story is a contemporary romance with a sci-fi twist. I love that sci-fi twist it allows Ms. Subject to introduce things like flying cars (more hovercraft type cars) and portals to a space station while keeping the every day like the grocery store and hockey games.  I loved this touching story of a man willing to give his life for his country and then change his life to raise his sisters kids and a woman who changed her life for a man she loved only to be replaced with a newer model.

When Jared and Paige come together (hehe double entendre there) it is hot enough I am surprised they didn’t melt the ice in the hockey rink. How will they make it work with Paige having a lifetime contract and Jared a life time of raising kids? Has Madam Eve made a mistake this time. I think not!
This rate 4 cocktails from me.

I am a lover of alpha males with dirty mouths, strong heroines putting alpha males in their place, and the Chicago Blackhawks. I'm a proud hockey mom who can often be found at the hockey rink cheering on my favorite forward, with my kindle close by.
