I have to confess that I was a little nervous going into Only One Night. Manning is a character that we’ve seen in the previous Only One books, so we know going in that he is married (if even in name only) and cheating is usually something that makes it hard for me to connect to the characters. Ms Madison has taken the unredeemable and made it work before, so I was curious to see what she would do here.

My faith in Ms Madison was rewarded and while I don’t want to give anything away, I will say that she handled Manning meeting and pursuing Evelyn just right. I found myself liking both characters and rooting for them to find a solution. The fact that Manning was a great Dad who focused on his son made it impossible to not like him, even if I didn’t always agree with the order in which he did things. Evelyn sticking to her guns (or trying to anyway) once she knew Manning was married made my respect for her go up.

Fans of Ms Madison and the Only One series will enjoy this well written addition to the series. Ralph and Miller (books 1 & 2) make strong appearances in the secondary cast. They, along with several other secondary characters, provide great support for Manning. I am very curious to see what happens next with this series and hope we get to see more of Manning and Evelyn in the future.
