Ms Jamieson is a newer author to me and with each book, I am so glad I discovered her at the recommendation of another author. Playing to Win kicks off a new series featuring hockey royalty, the Wynn family. This book centers on Théo as he is moving back to the hub of family activities in California and Lacey, whom he meets/rescues in his last night in Vegas.
I liked Théo, Lacey, and their insta attraction turned growing relationship. I appreciated the semi slow burn and how being together caused emotional evolution, particularly in Théo. It was nice to see him loosen up a little bit and start to enjoy life more. Even though the story was told in dual point of view, it felt like the focus was more on Theo and I would have liked to have seen more of an evolution for Lacey’s character as well.
The fact that this is the first book in the series, there is a lot of world building around the Wynn family’s complicated relationships. This makes it hard for me to give this a full 4 stars-mainly because I wanted to see more of Théo and Lacey. I am looking forward to seeing what comes next in the series and am hoping that this couple will be making cameos.
