This one was slow building, but by the time I got to the last page I was thankful I had the second book on my Kindle and ready to be read. Elizabeth Corva allows me to continue on with my love affair with British leading men..even those that at twenty nine aren’t too sure about their feelings for an eighteen year old.

Who didn’t have a immensely huge crush on the lead singer in whatever band you loved when you were eighteen.  Who wouldn’t give anything to meet said crush or better yet, become his personal assistant?  This is what happens to eighteen year old Jasmine the summer before she starts college in Arizona.  In a random set of circumstances, she gets to meet the man she’s had a crush on forever and have a friendship develop into something more.

This was another one of those stories where I had to remember the heroine was only eighteen or else I would want to rip my hair out.  But once I put myself in perspective, I enjoyed Jasmine.  She’s been dealt a pretty big blow at thirteen when her mother passed away and didn’t have a hearts and flowers relationship with her step-dad, which made things a bit difficult for her.  But I enjoyed following Jasmine as she developed her friendship / love of Jonathan.  It wasn’t always easy for her to be around him, especially given her feelings, but I liked how she grew to know the difference between a crush for a rock star and the feelings for the man she grew to knew.

Jonathan was a pretty special man in my book.  He knew the instant connection he felt for Jasmine was wrong, considering her age.  Instead of using his fame and her obvious attraction to him, he kept away from her until she was eighteen and on her way to college.  He was a bit selfish, giving Jasmine her PA job so she would be close by, but she was a calming influence on Jonathan and he knew that she was what he needed, despite their age difference.  He was sweet, caring and made it really hard to not like, even when he was doing something unlikable.

The book ends with a little bit of a cliffhanger, but the author luckily published the second book in the series at the same time eliminating the dreaded wait.  It’s a bit of a heartbreaker, but I have faith the author is going to give us a story in book two that gives Jasmine and Jonathan what they really want.
