Reviewer’s Thoughts

A Passion for Pleasure is a historical romance novel. This book was just an okay read in my opinion. The storyline was great. A former piano student with a crush on her teacher has an opportunity to pursue a relationship with him—marriage. I was looking forward to a strong heroine that stopped at nothing to pursue and capture the man of her dreams. That’s not quite what I got when I read this novel.

Clara Whitmore Winter is the heroine of the novel. She approaches Sebastian Hall with a proposal that will help both of them. I had hoped to have more of a buildup or a chase to get Sebastian to agree. She asked him, he stated his conditions, she easily met them, and they were married. The two did have sexual chemistry and there were several instances where they almost “”went all the way””.

I loved how Sebastian was always there for Clara. He risked everything to make sure that she didn’t suffer. I think that’s the aspect of this book that I liked the most. It was an opportunity to look a the male’s perspective and understand how they feel when circumstances beyond their control happen. No man that truly loves a woman wants to see her unhappy and will risk all to make her world right and that’s exactly what Sebastian did.

I was a little confused with Clara. She ultimately tried to correct matters on her own without Sebastian’s help. I kept wondering why it took her so long to decide to act on her own to resolve the issue. So she struck me as more of a damsel in distress that needed rescue than an independent take charge kind of girl.

I enjoyed the book, and I freely admit that my favorite books contain strong, independent female characters so that may be the reason I didn’t “”love”” this book. It’s worth the time to read it and form your own opinion. It will not disappoint any lover of romance.
