Reviewer’s Thoughts

This is the second book in the Shadow Maverick Ranch series by Parker Kincade and it was just as good as the first. This was a sweet erotic read that had two friends and lovers from the past re-unite. I love these kinds of stories as the characters already have their own brand of special chemistry between them.

Pax has issues, he doesn’t know how to love or trust anymore. My heart ached for him. Underneath all of that tough, I don’t care attitude he is a strong, passionate and very sexy Alpha male and when he encounters his childhood friend Reese again he knows exactly what he wants, Her! Reese is a strong, smart and independent woman, she is anxious about being back at the Shadow Maverick Ranch and seeing Pax again. When they were younger they had a true friendship and trust built between them, but when tragedy strikes they lose everything they had built with each other. 10 years later and their feelings are still strong and they can’t seem to resist each other. The passion and the sex was smoking hot between them, Pax is definitely what a woman wants in her bed!

This is a story about love and understanding, forgiveness and passion. Learning to trust again is hard. Pax and Reese both have issues to deal with and neither is perfect. The author gives us real characters, they are interesting, and ultimately flawed in all the right ways. I love that we also get glimpses of Gavin and Lauren from the first book and how their story is progressing.

Even though this was a shorter novella, the storyline was fantastic and it was very well developed. It gives you a more in-depth look into the Mathis family. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. This book delivered everything you want in a romance. I would definitely recommend this book.
