9781101634790_BreakingOut_CV.inddSecond in the darkly compelling, sexually-charged contemporary romance trilogy, in which two men vie for the mind, body, and heart of a woman who may never give in to their wishes—or her own…

Evelyn “Scout” Keats has left behind her painful past of surviving on the streets, and is now living in the luxurious penthouse master suite of Hotel Patras with her lover, billionaire Lucian Patras. But what she doesn’t know is the price Lucien paid for her freedom.

To protect Scout’s life, Lucian cut a deal with a dangerous man from her past, Parker Hughes. He swore to stay away from her for thirty days, even though he knows Parker will be fighting to keep them apart for good and take Scout as his own.

Yet neither man realizes that Scout is not about to be used as a prize or a bargaining chip for any man’s power play—and she falls back on her hard-earned self-respect and courage to show both men that the only person she truly needs is herself.

But Lucien has other plans…

Reviewer’s Thoughts

The Lucian and Evelyn saga continues in the second book of The Surrender Trilogy and I was not disappointed.  I really thought the author did a fantastic job of capturing me as a reader further into this story.  There were times when I hated it and times when I loved it.  So many different emotions were portrayed by the characters and so much self discovery for Lucian and Evelyn.

The books starts out right where the first book ends and I fell in love a little more with Lucian.  Underneath his brash exterior is a very caring and loving man, he is not the man behind the mask he puts on when in public. I thought that this was more Evelyn’s story, as a reader you get to experience her growth and conquer her inner demons, this is more about her self discovery.  There were times that you wanted to cry for the injustice that life was for her growing up.  Her character is about how anyone can rise from the depths and make their dreams come true if they work hard.  Hers and Lucian’s relationship is all about learning to trust and love, and the roadblocks that they face in trying to make the impossible possible.

I loved how the author always had you guessing what would happen next in their lives and in the story.  It was a story filled with passion and heartbreak.  This is not your normal, rich guy meets poor girl story; here are your characters and here is the plot. This story gradually unfolds but never enough that made it predictable in any way.  It is well written, and the characters are very well developed … and despite some emotional aspects of the characters’ lives, it doesn’t weigh you down. There is a great balance, and some fabulous intimate sex scenes.  I would recommend that you read the first book in the trilogy first, and I am really looking forward to the next.  The ending was fantastic and I can’t wait to read what happens in the final book.
