Max Crawford, he’s shy, awkward and a bit set in his ways, so when he decides to find a wife, he goes all out with a list and everything. I really loved Max, maybe because I understood his quirks and the way he processes things.
This story was a bit refreshing, since it wasn’t the hero who was reluctant for a permanent relationship. He was ready for kids, the whole nine yards.
Enter Tori Burns, who is determined to help Max find a wife. She doesn’t want to get married ever, with her parents as the example of how badly things can go. If anything her reluctance got to me, I kept wanting to yell, Max is perfect, go for it.
I really loved the whole town, and all of the secondary characters and although this is the ninth book in the series, and my first foray with this author, I can truly say that it didn’t matter. This can be read all by itself, Ms. Stacey does a great job of introducing everyone in a way that I wasn’t lost, and in brief enough manner that I think even fans of the series would be hard pressed to find fault with it.
I highly recommend this story, it’s a great friends to lovers story with that happy small town feel, that left me smiling and satisfied.
