16051076Quarterback Tyler Harris is about to find the woman who can get past his defensive line and reach his heart.

With two championships in as many years, superstar Tyler Harris is the best quarterback in the league. Gorgeous and rich, he’s at the top of his game. But everyone’s looking to take him down. There’s a building media frenzy around an unfortunate accident, and the only safe place seems a rundown mansion deep in the San Juans and owned by his late great uncle. There, Tyler gets sacked by the sassy redhead next door. It’s more alive than he’s felt in years.

Lavender Mead has a good reason to dislike jocks, namely an absentee father who deserted the family to coach college football. Maybe that explains her penchant for bad boys who play ball for a living and break hearts for a hobby. Her new neighbor seems just the type. Yet, something is different about Tyler, and sometimes love requires a Hail Mary. You draw back your arm, pray…and give it all up to fate. And sometimes you win your ring.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Forward passes is nothing like your traditional sweet love story, BUT….you’ll absolutely love it. Lavender and Tyler are a scorching hot couple. Lavender has a fondness for older people and a chip on her shoulder when it comes to men involved in sports. That doesn’t stop her body from reacting to Tyler. Tyler is a professional athlete hiding behind his macho image. They don’t like each other, but their bodies crave each other. Tyler and Lavender don’t allow their mutual dislike for each other to keep them from fulfilling their voracious appetite for sex…anytime, anywhere, anyhow.

I absolutely loved that the author spared me pages and pages sometimes even several chapters of reading about how Tyler chases and convinces Lavender to have sex with him. Lavender is an independent woman that is just as bent on fulfillment as Tyler. So you don’t read any of the dramatics that ultimately end with them having sex. So kudos to Jami Davenport for cutting to the SPICY. This book is written in a very engaging style. You fall in love with Lavender and Tyler almost from the beginning. I became so caught up in these characters I found myself holding my breath hoping everything would work out for them. Both of them have issues from the past but it is easy to see how they fulfill and complement each other. There were a number of characters that kept the novel lively and interesting (Homer and Jim were hilarious). There was some suspense and possible doubt of an HEA. I was nearly late for work trying to make sure they really came together. Thankfully I was alone when I read this book or those around me would have thoguht I was crazy because I alternated between laughing and crying. The book was a great mix of comedy, sadness, hope, and overall a realistic story about two people growing up, finding their way, and coming together.

This book is the second book in the Seattle Lumberjacks series. It is easily read as a stand alone book. I didn’t read the first one, and I had no problem following the dialogue. I’m officially hooked, and I must now find and read all of the series. Trust me..it’s that good.

I am a lover of alpha males with dirty mouths, strong heroines putting alpha males in their place, and the Chicago Blackhawks. I'm a proud hockey mom who can often be found at the hockey rink cheering on my favorite forward, with my kindle close by.
