There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER… Life will never be the same. #Hessa

Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.

But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, tattoos, and lip ring, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.

But he’s also rude – to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin.nd she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.

He’ll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.

Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin’s prejudice about nice girls like her?

Unless…could this be love?

Reviewer’s Thoughts

I hadn’t heard of this book or the fact that the series was a Wattpad big read until the galley copy of it came across my desk.  So I didn’t know if was a FinFic or that it many of the male characters were based on the band One Direction.  But I was intrigued by the blurb of the book and was anxious to read it.

We follow Tessa as she starts her freshman year of college.  She’s free from her controlling mother and her boyfriend who seems to be nothing more than a lapdog of Tessa’s mother.  Her roommate is the complete opposite of our very prim, proper and driven heroine and she has a group of friends that seem to enjoy making fun of Tessa….especially the English bad boy, Hardin.  Starts out great, but soon Hardin is way too much of an asshole to like and Tessa just keeps going back for me…irritating me to no end.  It was at this point that I had to stop reading this because I just didn’t get it.

If you look the After series up on WattPad, the author has over a million readers.  So I found myself jumping into the subsequent books to see if there were any remotely redeeming qualities in these two characters to make myself read on and know they get better.  WRONG.  Hardin still a d-bag and Tessa was still the simpering, enabling twit who kept going back to him.  Lots of people are in the love with this series, but I just couldn’t do it.  I don’t mind a d-bag hero, but at some point he needs to start redeeming himself…and that just wasn’t happening here.

I love everything about romance books. The sexual tension, the relation build up snd of course the HEA.

  2. I think it’s the HEA that I love the most. That even with all the drama and heartache there usually is a happily ever after. The books that don’t have a HEA tend to make me want to throw my iPad, but I love those too.
