If you have been following Shalvis’ HeartBreak Bay series, then this is a novella that you don’t want to miss! Sean O’Reilly is a character we were introduced to in the very first book and he has made an appearance, at least briefly in each of the books since.
This is a fun little visit with the whole HeartBreak Bay gang heading to Napa for Finn and Pru’s bachelor/bachelorette weekend organized by Best-Man, Sean. We briefly catch up with everyone, but Sean and his reconnection with a high school love are the core of the story.
This is a true novella written as part of the series, so while it could be read by itself, I would not suggest reading it as a standalone. Ms. Shalvis gives us a glimpse at the Sean’s character in the past so that his interactions with Charlotte (Lotti) make sense, but the overall character development is minimal. This is a cute edition to the series that accomplishes a few things in regards to the overall story arc, but I would have actually have enjoyed getting to see move of Sean and Lotti’s story.
