The steamy Chicago Rebels series returns with this racy and sassy tale of embittered hearts, second chances, and going for the goalβ€”on and off the ice.

Violet Vasquez never met her biological father, so learning he left his beloved hockey franchiseβ€”the Chicago Rebelsβ€”to her is, well, unexpected. Flat broke and close to homeless, Violet is determined to make the most of this sudden opportunity. Except dear old dad set conditions that require she takes part in actually running the team with the half-sisters she barely knows. Working with these two strangers and overseeing a band of hockey-playing lugs is not on her agenda…until she lays eyes on the Rebels captain and knows she has to have him.

Bren St. James has been labeled a lot of things: the Puck Prince, Lord of the Ice, Hell’s Highlander...but it’s the latest tag that’s making headlines: washed-up alcoholic has-been. This season, getting his life back on track and winning the Cup are his only goals. With no time for relationshipsβ€”except the fractured ones he needs to rebuild with his beautiful daughtersβ€”he’s finding it increasingly hard to ignore sexy, all-up-in-his-beard Violet Vasquez. And when he finds himself in need of a nanny just as the playoffs are starting, he’s faced with a temptation he could so easily get hooked on.

For two lost souls, there’s more on the line than just making the best of a bad situation… there might also be a shot at the biggest prize of all: love.

This is the fourth book in the heartwarming Chicago Rebels series. I have enjoyed reading these fun, sweet and sexy stories filled with colorful characters and hot hockey players. Β

Bren St James is the sexy, tortured captain of the Rebels. He is fighting a drinking problem and does his best to try to get along with his ex-wife. Β He is riddled with guilt over the way he treated his family and is doing everything in his power to make up for his past mistakes. He has two daughters from his marriage ages nine and eleven and he is dedicated to making sure they are happy. Β Bren is giving up his bad boy ways and that means no drinking, fighting or sex. This makes him grumpy and sullen.

Violet is a free spirit who hides her true feeling behind a sassy attitude. She comes off being flirty and flighty but underneath Violet is insecure and afraid. She is an instigator and loves to ruffle Bren’s feathers. Β She is continually changing her hair color from pink to purple and has tattoos all over her body. Violet and her two step-sisters inherited the Rebels hockey team from their father and Violet has been thrust into a totally different world. She is slowly getting to know her sisters and learning about hockey.

It is fun and exciting as Bren and Violet try to fight their strong attraction to each other. Although they have baggage and insecurities they are dealing with, they are good for each other and I was rooting for them the entire time. Β I liked Bren and Violet and found it easy to connect to them and I also enjoyed catching up with Violet’s step-sisters and their hockey boyfriends.
