Review: Lush – Lauren Dane

USA Today bestselling author Lauren Dane delivers a second serving of sexy in her new Delicious novel, in which taste and temptation make up a sweet recipe…
Mary Whaley has her hands full running a successful catering company and overseeing her supper club. She has everything she ever wanted—or so she thought. When she meets ridiculously hot and very dirty rock star Damien Hurley at her friend’s engagement party, the attraction she feels is overpowering—and she isn’t about to deny herself.
Damien is used to a hard and fast life. He and two of his brothers started a band when they were fresh out of high school—then they hit the big time and stayed there. He’s also a legendary madman on the stage and in the bedroom. But when he meets Mary, something clicks, and the bad boy starts thinking he may have finally found something good.
What begins as a series of fleeting trysts soon gets much more complicated. Damien can’t figure out why Mary doesn’t want more from him. And before long, it’s Damien who wants more from Mary. But it turns out Mary is no stranger to celebrity news, and he’s got a very big job ahead of him: proving that he’s worth more than a one-night stand…

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

A chance encounter at a friend’s party sets the scene for the very first time Damien sets his eyes on Mary. One glance is all it took for him to know he wanted her. One night together is all it took for him to realize that one night would never be enough. Theirs is bound to be more than a one-night stand.
Lush will appeal to all those women who have fantasized about that certain rock star that makes their toes curl with a smile. You know who you are. Let’s be honest, we’ve all had that rock star fantasy. Mary just gets to live hers out. An ordinary woman, Mary’s life is surrounded by the extraordinary. Her best friend is in a triad relationship, another friend is in a relationship with a very wealthy man and yet another is married to another rock star. That being said, the ease of which she interacts with Damien is not unexpected. Just as his fascination with a woman who is not awed by his money and fame in not unexpected either.
Once the initial wow factor of every teenage fantasy come true wore off what keep me reading was the outstanding character development. With several secondary characters, whose stories have already been told in previous books, I was a bit leery. You know the saying of too many cooks spoil the broth. In this case I worried too many characters and character plot lines would take away from the story development between Damien and Mary. However, in true Lauren Dane mode, I needn’t have worried. She flawlessly intersected the characters into the story with anecdotes that enriched the plot rather than interfere with it. Bravo Ms. Dane, another home run in my book.
