Review: More Than Meets the Ink by Elle Aycart

Wickedly sexy James Bowen is a bad boy of the highest order — tattoos and attitude included — which unfortunately ranks way up on Tate’s not-a-chance-in-hell list, right there along with skydiving naked over Teheran and juggling Ebola vials just for kicks. But what the heck, she’s on holiday, the guy is absolutely irresistible, and she needs to unplug from her life. With her dad and brother gone, Tate is left to deal with the family restaurant, which is fast going down the drain. Her employees are acting out, her boyfriend has bailed out, and her very own private stalker is emailing her to death with lovely threats of doom, fire, and dismemberment. So yeah, maybe a little holiday fling is in order. Strictly sex though, and no follow-up whatsoever once.

She hadn’t counted on her take-charge holiday fling having an opinion of his own and stubbornly sticking around, before and after the sex, making himself at home in her life. There is definitely more to James than meets her prejudiced eye, and even if she’s not ready to look deeper, James isn’t prepared to permit her not to.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Tate doesn’t date bad boys, especially not tattooed bad boys, but James Bowen blows all her preconceptions and prejudices to smithereens. He’s a gainfully employed bad boy who was supposed to be just a vacation fling while she was willing to walk on the wild side, but bad boys are not for permanent relationships.

I loved James, instead of being hurt by Tate’s assumptions about him, he just puts on the charms and pushes past her defenses. I loved his patience with her, he just waits her out and helps her as much as she’ll let him. I’d happily take James for myself.

Tate is hurting, she has never truly grieved for her father and brother, and instead of really living, she’s just trying to survive. She isn’t ready for a relationship, but James sneaks up on her. I did have a moment where I was mad at her, and yelled at her when she treated James badly. In the end, she redeems herself in my eyes, and the story wraps up nicely.

I definitely recommend this story, the author writes complex characters and steamy love scenes. I really fell in love and I will be looking for more books by this author.
