Love refuses to leave him alone. Aiden Newell knows he’s a coward for refusing to go home, but he doesn’t care. He won’t go back as long as Justin Pollasky is still there. If he goes back, he’ll just fall in love with the man all over again. Justin has loved him and left him the past. Justin has been trying to get Aiden back for a year and a half, but the man refuses to see him. Every time their teams work together, Aiden takes off for parts unknown. When Aiden gets kidnapped by the human traffickers trying to put him behind bars, Justin gets a little bit crazy with worry. He just hopes he can get Aiden back in time to make things right.

I have really enjoyed the “Lakehouse Security” series.  “Persistent Love” is the fifth installment, and it successfully adds another layer to the ongoing story.  You know how, sometimes, as the number of additions grows, the initial plot gets lost?  That doesn’t happen here.  The book focuses on another couple, but April Kelley never loses sight of the world she’s created.

“Persistent Love” is Justin and Aiden’s story.  They have a history together.  They love each other, but Justin keeps leaving for work for months at a time.  He’s part of an elite group of men who are bringing down human trafficking rings.  During those times away he never calls Aiden, even though he promises to.  Aiden takes him back time after time, but he’s decided that his heart just can’t handle another disappointment. So, he’s been ignoring Justin, even though he’s been back for awhile.

I wanted to reach through my Kindle and throttle both Aiden and Justin.  They’re so stubborn…Aiden in trying to push Justin away, and Justin in his relentless pursuit of Aiden, even though he won’t actually explain WHY he stays away for so long.  I don’t want to give anything away, especially if you’ve been following the series.  I’ll just say that something happens to Aiden that makes Justin (and the other men) jump into action.  In the end, Aiden winds up stuck with Justin in a remote cabin.  It’s there we learn the truth, and it’s heart wrenching.  I felt so sad for both of them.

In keeping with the sweeping plot, we are faced with another layer of the Avery church/trafficking ring.  These people are evil to the core, and our guys are trying their damnedest to stop them.  The story is interesting, and even after five books, I’m still caught up in it.  Also, like every book in the series, Aiden and Justin are seriously awesome together.  Once they put their differences aside, they make magic in the bedroom.  It’s very sexy, and extremely HOT!  However, with all the heat, you can still feel the love they have for each other.  It shines right through.

I don’t recommend you read this book as a stand alone.  There have been four other books before this one, and the mystery/intrigue is building with each new story.  Read it from the beginning, “Sudden Love” and just go with the flow.  Also, near the end of this one, the set up for book six began, and it looks like it’s going to be a good one.  I highly recommend this book.
