four-stars

Joe, an ex-detective and a popular Dom, wasn’t gay. Not one little bit. He told himself that all the time he fought the inexplicable attraction he had for the gorgeous young submissive, Adam. Yet when he learns a psychopath responsible for two murders has set his sights on Adam, and Adam disappears, it suddenly seemed far more important to tell him something else.

Joe realizes Adam has become more important to him than his next breath, but if he can’t track down the psycho that was torturing and murdering submissives, Joe won’t ever be able to tell Adam anything else again, it will be far too late

Victoria’s Thoughts

Pure Indulgence is the second book in the Pure series by Victoria Sue.  While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel.

Joe is an ex-detective and a Dom at the local BDSM club.  After leaving the police department he becomes buys into the local BDSM club.  Joe has two ex-wives and always thought of himself as straight.  He never ever even considered men.

Adam is a sub who has a crush on a straight Dom who wants to spend time with him.  He has had a rough life and is barely scraping by.  Adam seems crushed when he finds out that Joe is straight even though they played around together.

The connection between Joe and Adam is intense.  While it’s not normally realistic for someone who is straight to change their sexual preference.  Its apparent right from the start that Adam intrigues Joe in ways he does not expect or really know how to deal with.  However when Adam is kidnapped, Joe does not have the time to deal with his feelings if he wants Adam back alive.  The sex scenes were scorching.

I found this book well written with a unique plot. I enjoyed how the author incorporated romance, and mystery. The main characters and the secondary characters were fascinating.  While the ending was a little predictable, the journey the book takes the reader is gripping with several unanticipated twists and turns. I had a hard time putting this book down.  Overall, this was a very captivating book and I hope to see these characters again in the future.
