Reviewer’s Thoughts

A collection of two short stories by author Cassandra Carr.

In the first short story we are given a peek into a marriage that has grown stale. A couple that although very much still in love, they had grown physically apart. The wife’s bright idea? Introduce a little kink into the marriage. Thankfully this seemed to work out well for them and they find new ways to keep things spicy and fresh between them.

Next, Carr gives us the story of a young woman home from college who may finally get the co-worker with whom she’s shared an intense flirtation with for over a year. This story sounds sweet, which is exactly what it is. It has some steamy moments as well to be sure. But again I didn’t feel emotionally connected with the characters.

With a title like Sizzling Shorts I expected maybe a little more. Not more heat. That was by far not an issue here. However, I have to admit to having an emotional disconnection to the characters. I found this a bit disappointing considering how much I’ve enjoyed Ms Carr’s books in the past.  This is not to say that I did not enjoy the book. That is by far not it at all. I enjoyed reading it while I was reading it. However, once the book was over, it was just done. It didn’t linger in my mind nor did I wonder what would happen to the characters next. If you’re looking for a short, light read sure to burn up those sheets and fog up your glasses look no further. But if you’re looking for depth in your reading, you may sadly be disappointed in this one.
