The author of Risky Game returns with a football team owner who’s a real player, and the woman who’s ready to call him out on everything...Dot-com millionaire Jay McManus is discovering that owning a pro football team like the Baltimore Blaze isn’t easy. An anonymous blogger is out to destroy his reputation, and now his team is being sued by its own cheerleaders. If Jay’s not careful, he could lose big—and not just financially.Bridgett Janik’s brother may play for the Baltimore Blaze, but she’s not thrilled to be defending Jay McManus, the man who broke her heart. It’s bad enough she has to mingle with Jay during games, but working beside her former lover may be too much for her body—and her heart—to resist.Jay’s determined not to let Bridgett slip away from him a second time. But, as the two follow the mysterious blogger’s trail, secrets—both past and present—are revealed, and Jay and Bridgett must decide if their relationship can be something more than just sleeping with the enemy.

I really liked this book, I am always a little apprehensive reading a book in the middle of a series but in this case I am so glad I did.

This is a story about Bridgett and Jay.  Jay is a successful tech mogul who purchased a NFL team who is being sued for sexual harassment and Bridgett is the lawyer hired to defend him and the team.  The issue is that Bridgett and Jay know each other from 13 years before when they had a summer fling in Italy.  They fell in love but Jay had to leave early when his step father passed away but they promised each other that they will be together again and of course due to circumstances that neither were aware that didn’t happen.  They have seen each other a bit over the years, Bridgett’s brother plays for the team Jay owns but there has been no communication between the two until Bridgett walks into Jay’s conference room for the first meeting.  They both are harboring hurt feelings that neither got over for different reasons and that drives a lot of the decisions they both make once they start working together.

I enjoyed the banter between the two main characters – you know they still care/love each other they just cant get past the pain they feel to move forward.  The still have a great chemistry and when the try to have just a physical relationship their feelings for each other start to grow again and that’s when things get interesting.   There is a couple of sub plots and characters that have been meet and flushed out in the previous books in the series but the author did a great job explaining the background where I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, in fact now I really want to go and read the first few books in the series.

The only issue I had was that the misunderstandings that Bridgett and Jay face took what seemed like forever to resolve.  Bridgett especially had things said to her from Jay’s family that indicated that what she thought was true may not be the whole story and didn’t budge from her position, that being said I understand the conflict resolution is what makes the story so I am ok with it.

Overall a great story – highly recommend it if you like finding lost loves and falling in love again.
