20517588He wants her. All of her.

NYPD sniper Matt Donovan is in Hell. Instead of driving his best friend’s little sister home from college, he’s stuck with her roommate—a fresh-faced ray-of-sunshine with a body that makes grown men weep. There’s no way he’ll allow himself to taint the little vixen, no matter how hard she tries to tempt him, so he resigns himself to the longest—and hardest—drive of his life.

Matt’s obvious attraction suits grad student Lucy Mason just fine. She had no idea her brother’s best friend was so deliciously hot. Knowing he’d never have his wicked way with his buddy’s sister, she lies about her identity and seduces him. But Matt’s no fumbling college boy. His desires run deep—and dark—and he wants to teach Lucy what wicked really means.

Matt’s demanding appetites only make Lucy want more. But when her cover’s blown, he’s furious—even as his hunger for her becomes insatiable. Matt can’t trust anyone, least of all himself. And he knows all too well that darkness always destroys the light…

Reviewer’s Thoughts

Nobody, but NOBODY writes a dirty talking cop like Tessa Bailey. This is why she is one of my favorite authors. Her books are already very hot, but the talking? Ohhhhhhhhhh…the talking!

“Staking His Claim” is nothing different. It doesn’t disappoint at all! Matt is an NYPD sniper who is doing his best friend a favor by picking up and driving his little sister, Lucy, and her friend and driving them to Manhattan. Lucy is very attracted to Matt, but when she hears him refer to her as a nuisance, she decides to pull a fast one on him by pretending to be somebody else. This is where the fun starts. Finding themselves stranded at a hotel, thanks to a faulty belt in the car, they let their attraction get the best of them. No more spoilers from me. You know how I roll 🙂

Mat and Lucy have the hottest chemistry that I’ve read in a very long time. The sex scenes are not so much hot as they are nuclear. They’re just amazing together. My Kindle pretty much exploded in my hands. Of course, I mentioned the dirty talk. GAH! Matt could melt glaciers when he opens his mouth. I had butterflies in my stomach the whole time. Speaking of sex…there is a LOT of it, but you know what? It’s not overwhelming, and it’s not main focus of the story. It’s actually very character driven. We get to know what Matt and Lucy are thinking and feeling at all times. We see their struggles, and their victories.

This was such a great book. It’s the fifth in the “Line of Duty” series, but it can be read as a stand alone. However, I recommend that you read the first four, in order, before you start this one. Some characters do cross over, and you’ll be happy to know what’s going on in the background. PLUS, there are other handsome, sexy, dirty talking cops to meet 🙂 DEFINITELY treat yourself to “Staking His Claim”. You won’t be sorry.
