Dr. Michelle Sapphire and Gunnery Sergeant Wyatt Callahan formed an unbreakable bond and an unacknowledged, forbidden attraction to each other while serving together in Afghanistan. Their lives are forever changed when a mortar attack grievously wounds Wyatt and Michelle brings him back from the brink of death. But when they both return to the civilian world, Michelle discovers that her rock-solid Marine is suffering from severe PTSD and may even be suicidal.

Wyatt Callahan fell hard for the aristocratic blonde doctor the moment he laid eyes on her. After reentering civilian life in his hometown near Austin, Texas, Wyatt is plagued by nightmares of the death and suffering he witnessed during the war. He’d love to reach out to Michelle, but β€” Michelle is a Dominatrix, and she has made it very clear to Wyatt she isn’t interested in a relationship with anyone who doesn’t accept her lifestyle. An Alpha male to the core, he can’t imagine the appeal of being submissive. At the same time, the idea of serving Michelle, of being everything she wants and needs, rings true in his wounded soul.

Michelle has dark secrets of her own, and together with Wyatt she will have to battle her personal demons during their emotional journey of healing, redemption, and love.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

I don’t read many FemDom books, mostly because I was under the impression that Dommes were all leather wearing, lick my boots bitches. Seriously I was thinking something like every villain in the movies, but I do enjoy BDSM. I love Doms of the male variety so when Ms. Mayburn, an author I trust to write a story I’ll enjoy, wrote a FemDom, I decided to give it a try. I wasn’t disappointed.

These two served together in the military and formed a bond over the stress of Afghanistan meet up again after they are both out of the service; the chemistry is off the charts. Dr. Michelle Sapphire is a surgeon and that alone means she likes control, and it extends into the bedroom. There was this core of strength about her that I loved; while still having the ability to be vulnerable. Michelle is a Domme, she likes Alpha men like Wyatt Callahan to submit to her, and the love, care and respect she has for that submission is obvious.

Gunnery Sergeant Wyatt Callahan is suffering from PTSD. He’s in a downward spiral when Michelle steps in and gives him a choice. Wyatt is an Alpha, a man’s man and he still submits and puts Michelle’s pleasure first, there is just something so hot about that.

The sex is off the charts hot. Don’t worry there is nothing really crazy, just red hot sex between two very strong characters. The way Wyatt worships Michelle makes me crave my very own Alpha male submissive.

While these two work out his submission, their relationship and their roles there are ups and downs and misunderstandings. I felt like there was a beautiful grasp on PTSD and the struggles that poses to everyday life.

This is a love story with kink thrown in. I recommend this book to anyone who loves strong heroines and loves a strong hero that worships his lady.
