team alphaWhen Mikhail Rossov and Gareth Gruffyd met Daisy Choe she was young, perfect in all ways and everything they both wanted in their lives. But they were soldiers, duty and honor above all. After a wild weekend they had to go back and serve their country, to keep everyone they knew and loved safe. But they never once stopped thinking about her or the emotions she alone could evoke within them both. Fiercely protective they would have done anything for her, but she seemed to just vanish without a trace.

One weekend changed her life completely, turning it on it’s ear and showing her just who she could trust and believe in. The men she’d given everything to, including her heart, disappeared and never contacted her again. But she had someone very important depending on her so she did what she had to do. What she never expected was to come face to face with them ten years later. Not that way, not with them looking so good and not because her daughter went looking for her daddies.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

This book was written using a great story idea.  It is the story of a very young woman, Daisy, taking a chance on love with two men, losing that love, and raising a child, Honey, on her own.  She’s a devoted single parent until her child decides to find her “fathers”, and the journey of reuniting Honey’s parents.  I couldn’t wait to dive into this mfm tale, but I wish I had..sigh.

The execution of the storyline was extremely repetitive, unrealistic, and disjointed.  I’ll tackle the author’s description of Honey first.  Honey was supposed to be 13 years old and mature enough to get assistance with finding her fathers.  However, the author goes on to have Honey describe bad words being said about her mother as “horse” and “trampoline”.  Knock, Knock, Honor James—-reality is calling you.  Thirteen year olds know what whore and tramp mean.  Then the 13 year old invites her fathers to hold either her or mommy’s hands.  What 13 year old wants to hold hands with their parents????  As a matter of fact that is a punishment for mine when they act out, and I can tell you that when we are in public they will do anything NOT to hold my hand.  I can’t count the number of times she asked them if they really wanted to be her daddies or go to school with her or make the bullies stop calling her mom names.  I wanted to scream at the book to get her to stop whining.  On one hand the author portrays a bright, precocious, resourceful, mature teen and on the other a whining, immature or developmentally delayed child.

Let’s move on to the guys.  We really don’t get to know anything much about Gareth, but we get to know plenty about Mikhail.  As a matter of fact Gareth fades into the background and apparently only comes out to have sex.  Mikhail is supposed to be an Alpha, but he’s overly sensitive, moody, has low self-esteem, and requires constant affirmation.  I felt like leaping onto the pages and shaking Daisy. She spent most of the book kissing up to Mikhail and reassuring him that he was wanted and included.  I couldn’t even get vested into these characters after a shocking incident that could have ended one of their lives.

I battled with myself to finish this book.  I had to keep going back to prove to myself that I wasn’t going crazy and the characters were actually being so repetitive.  The only bright spots were the steamy love scenes.
