Posted January 27, 2013 by Shannon in Shannon / 0 Comments

Faith Holland left her hometown after being jilted at the altar. Now a little older and wiser, she’s ready to return to the Blue Heron Winery, her family’s vineyard, to confront the ghosts of her past, and maybe enjoy a glass of red. After all, there’s some great scenery there….
Like Levi Cooper, the local police chief-and best friend of her former fiancé. There’s a lot about Levi that Faith never noticed, and it’s not just those deep green eyes. The only catch is she’s having a hard time forgetting that he helped ruin her wedding all those years ago. If she can find a minute amidst all her family drama to stop and smell the rosÉ, she just might find a reason to stay at Blue Heron, and finish that walk..

Reviewer’s Thoughts:

Faith Holland avoided her hometown after fleeing to San Francisco.  Having been jilted at the alter by the love of her life and he was outed by his best friend, she needed to be away from the pitying stares of  her small hometown and running into her ex.  But when she comes back to Blue Heron for a couple of months to work on a project at the family winery, she has to come face to face with the past and the man she felt ruined everything, Levi Cooper.

I LOVED Levi Cooper.  He’s a man of few words and more often than not, let his actions speak for him, but there is something about strong, silent Levi that’s hard not to love.  He came back home after the military and became a police officer to prove he wasn’t just a kid from the wrong side of town, but someone who was worth something.  And when Faith came back to town, it was hard for him to remember all the reasons he disliked her when he kept discovering all the things he really liked about her.

Faith was a special person.  She carried around a lot of burdens that probably would have broken a lesser person.  She did everything that she could to make everyone happy, even if that meant she wasn’t.  Levi was pretty much the only person that didn’t want Faith to make something better.  While she was attracted to silent, surly Levi, he also helped Faith forgive herself for things she had no control of in the past and move on.  It wasn’t easy for Faith, but once she finally let things go she was able to move forward in her life and finally make a decision about just what she wanted.

With every book, Kristan Higgins manages to create a wacky, zany cast of characters that have a way of charming their way into your hearts…even when they are trying their hardest not too.  The dialog between the characters is witty and funny proving, again, just why I love Kristan Higgins.
