Reviewer’s Thoughts

I love Doris O’Connor. She’s given me many, many men to love, and in “The Mating Project” she outdid herself.

Maria has been, for all intents and purposes, forced to mate with a man that she despises. You see, they’re both full blooded cougar shifters, and she’s expected to bring more pure cubs into the world. Seeing no other way out, she runs away. There is an action-filled chase and fight, and Maria finds herself rescued by a handsome wolf shifter named Malachi. Fast forward ten years, and Maria has been tasked with convincing Professor Silas Deacon to join The Mating Project to assist in figuring out why it is that shifter birthrates are dwindling.

That’s it. No more.
What I loved about this story is that there was actual substance to it. It could have been a bare bones M/M/F menage book with a simple plot that only served to link the sex scenes together. There was mystery, action, evil, and science, and I was instantly caught up in all of it. Maria, Malachi, and Silas have a chemistry that is nuclear, whether it was Silas and Malachi together, or Silas/Malachi with Maria, or the three of them. All of the background characters helped the whole thing move along smoothly. Doris writes smoothly, so the transitions between chapters didn’t seem to be choppy or forced. As I said before, there is plenty of action and intrigue, and everyone must work together to destroy the evil that lives among them. The ultimate solution is exciting and scary, and it brings everything together to a very satisfying end.

I highly recommend this book if you’re a shifter fan. Even if you’re NOT, “The Mating Project” may change your mind.
