8127475Love hurts…if you’re lucky.

Kaden knows he’s dying, but before he goes, he has one problem he needs to solve – he must ask his oldest friend Seth to take over as his beloved wife’s Dom and Master after his death.

Seth has always seen himself as the perpetual screw-up and Kaden as the strong and steady one, so his friend’s request rocks his world. Now Seth finds himself immersed in a role he’s far from comfortable with: inflicting pain to provide emotional comfort for the woman he’s secretly loved for years. Can he deal with his crushing grief and learn the skills he must master in time to become THE RELUCTANT DOM?

Warning: m/f/m menage, anal sex/play/toys, BDSM, bondage, D/s relationship, and the lesser-known “normality” of the world of BDSM.

Reviewer’s Thoughts

I think I bit off more than I could chew with this book. It’s been on my TBR (to be read) list for a while now and after getting the chance to read it, I wish that it didn’t.

I’m not saying this because of poor writing; my dislike of the story has nothing to do with that. The story is very deep and dark and dealt with a lot of themes that really made me uncomfortable to read. The heroine, Leah, was physically, psychologically and sexually abused as a child and throughout her life before meeting her husband Kaden. Hearing her backstory was very disturbing.

The premise of the story is that Kaden is dying and he wants his best friend Seth to take over for him with Leah after Kaden passes away. Granted, I knew this going into the book, but I didn’t know how deep and depraved this journey would take me. I ended up skipping several scenes because, frankly, I just couldn’t stomach them.

This book is not for the faint-hearted but I would recommend it to readers who enjoy stories with this type of content. I really wanted to like the book but the author went some places that I just wasn’t comfortable traveling.
