The Truth About Jack introduces us to two very unique characters who couldn’t be more different if they tried, but have a lot in common. Dakota, has grown up in an artist colony living in her own yurt while being home schooled by her father and a writer neighbor. We meet her on the day she finds out that she has been accepted to the school of her dreams and finds out that her best friend has been stealing her boyfriend while they are both away at college. Jack, is a very wealthy young man raised with a tutor so he could focus on his music. Jack is struggling with the rules imposed by his Mother while he waits to go to Julliard.
Fate brings these two together and watching them figure things out reminds me why I would never want to be 18 again. Dakota is impossible not to like. She seems truly nice and pretty level headed for someone so young. Jack is pretty likable too, but he is harder to get to know. He definitely provides some cringe worthy moments as he tries to figure out how to approach Dakota.
They deal with some pretty typical teen angst is less than typical fashion and it was fun to watch. The Truth About Jack was a entertaining story with interesting characters that told a pretty basic teen story in an offbeat way.
