Reviewer’s Thoughts

I loved “Unhallowed Redemption”! It’s Tara Rose’s contribution to the “Midnight, New Orleans Style” series.

Tara never disappoints me, so I was really excited to get to read this book. Also, I love the concept of it all. Five friends meet in New Orleans to honor a friend who was murdered and lots of interesting things begin to happen. I’ve always been a fan of the supernatural. It started with my first Stephen King novel and took off from there. I’ve always eagerly dove into stories of the weird and wonderful, and “Unhallowed Redemption” is definitely those things.

I’m just going to give you a quick rundown here, because I don’t want to give you any spoilers. Faina (and I love that name so much) is one of a group of friends in a New Orleans cemetery on their way to visit Marie Laveau’s tomb. They all feel a deep guilt over the death of their friend. Faina finds herself separated from the group and completely lost in the dark. She’s about to happen upon something dangerous, and suddenly, she finds herself being taken (against her will) by two men and spirited away to their huge house. They claim to have rescued her, but to Faina, she’s been kidnapped and is at their mercy.

Alexei and Konstantin have a few issues of their own to deal with. They have found love with Faina, but that is both a blessing and a curse. In order to get what they’ve always wanted, they’ll have to give up something very important, and they are torn. With a little help from a friend, they think they’ve found a way to have their cake and eat it too, but they may be too late.

There. You’ll have to torture me to get any more out of me. As I said, I am very pleased with this story. The three main characters share a very quick and deep chemistry. It’s not a very long book, so it’s necessary to build that chemistry early, but it doesn’t feel rushed or in your face. Your neck isn’t going to break when it takes off, if you know what I mean. Faina, Alexei, and Konstantin are perfect together. Their love is palpable, and the sex? WOW! It’s incredibly hot. Tara Rose can certainly write a sex scene that will melt your panties and make your eyes bulge out of their sockets. Please remember that this is a BDSM story, so there are spankings, paddles, and all sorts of delightful toys. There is also a great underlying mystery that is present in, not only “Unhallowed Redemption”, but in the whole series. There are also some nice action scenes and some supernatural events as well. With this book, there is never a dull moment, and you’ll find yourself caught up in it all.

I enjoyed this one very much, and even though it’s the third in the “Midnight, New Orleans Style” series, I didn’t feel lost, so it can be read as a standalone. Of course, I have every intention of reading the other four stories because there are some great authors involved. I am giving “Unhallowed Redemption” five very enthusiastic stars. You should definitely check it out.
