three-stars

After his mother dies, rock star Ace White—lead singer of the red-hot band Wicked White—is done with the celebrity game. The phony people, the meaningless one-night stands: he doesn’t want any of it anymore. Quitting in the middle of a sold-out tour, Ace sets out to find some place—any place—where he can be alone.

Aspiring singer Iris Easton’s life has never been easy. First, her mother walked out on her when she was a kid. Now she’s buried in debt, weeks after losing her beloved grandmother. When a mysterious and sexy new guy moves in next door, Iris can’t help but be drawn to his soulful gaze. She can tell there’s something from his past haunting him—something he’s not telling her.

Just as Ace starts falling for Iris, the media go on a worldwide hunt to find the missing rocker. Will true love conquer all, or will the truth be the very thing that tears the couple apart?

This is an entertaining story about a hot, successful rock star on the run.  Ace Johnson walks away from his successful career as a rock star to figure out who he is and what he wants.  Ace is a talented successful musician but the record company and his manager change everything about him and now he doesn’t recognize himself.  The record company has invested a lot of money in Ace and they want him to fulfill his contract and of course, continue to make money for them.  Ace doesn’t care about the money, it’s the music that is important and he wants to be true to himself.  He has finally achieved his dream of becoming a successful rock star, but he isn’t happy because it is all a sham.  They don’t allow him to write his own music.  The band members were picked by the record company and hate him.

From the moment Ace meets Iris he feels a strong pull.  She is sweet and nice and down to earth.  He has never met anyone like her before and although he wants to get to know her better, he knows his life is too messed up to include her in it.  It wouldn’t be fair to her, yet he can’t seem to stay away from her.  She is small town girl. The girls who he usually meets are groupies and only care about his success not the man he really is.  Ace is a romantic at heart.  He is a sweet and sensitive guy and he quotes Shakespeare.  He isn’t your typical rock star and I wanted everything to work out between Ace and Iris, but I have to admit I had a hard time connecting to them.

Iris has come home because her grandmother has just died.  She has spent the last two years in New York trying to make it big on Broadway. She has an amazing voice and her dream is to star in Broadway musicals.  Iris is a strong and independent woman and she and Ace have a lot in common and are good for each other.  However life is never easy and these two have to decide what is important to them.
