After being kidnapped by a vampire hunter, vampire bodyguard Yvette’s first instinct is to kill the bastard. But before she gets the chance, she realizes that he was double-crossed by the witch he was working for and now is in as much danger as she is.
To get his brother out of trouble, bounty hunter / vampire slayer Haven has to deliver the young actress Kimberly to a witch. Unfortunately, she’s protected by the very creature he hates most: a vampire.
As Yvette and Haven try to escape their prison and rescue the actress and Haven’s brother, will their natural hatred for each other keep them apart or is the passion that bubbles up between them strong enough for them to dare risk their lives to defeat the witch from harnessing the greatest power of all?

Yvette’s longed for one thing in the years that she’s been a vampire, to feel like a woman by being able to have a child.  She feels like an utter failure because she was never able to carry a pregnancy to full term.  To combat that feeling, she cuts her long lockes nightly, wears tight leather pants and stiletto shoes and never lets a man get the upper hand with her.  Unfortunately, her upper hand goes away when she’s kidnapped, along with the Hollywood starlet she was hired to protect.

Haven will do whatever he has to in order to protect the only remaining family member he has left.  So when a witch threatens to kill his brother unless he brings an actress back to her, he does for the sake of his brothers life.  Still feeling guilty for not being able to stop his baby sister from being kidnapped he does the witches bidding.  But he finds himself in a predicament:  the woman he was attracted to in the party is none other than the vampire guarding the actress, who is now being held captive with them by the double-crossing witch.

We soon learn the reason behind the witch wanting the actress.  Seems she’s the long lot sister of Haven and his brother.  And when the three of them are together, than can wield magic strong enough to change the balance of the supernatural world.  So of course, the witch wants the power.  While the 4 detainees try and figure out a plan, Haven and Yvette have a hard time denying their growing attraction for each other.

Haven and Yvette have a certain chemistry with each other, if you can get past the “I want to kill you because you’re a stinking vampire” attitude that Haven vacillates with having.  I think that’s what bothered me the most with them as a couple.  He was a complete ass to her for half of the book.  Sure he had his moments where he was nice to her, but it seemed he was never able to let go of his prejudices.

What I enjoyed most with this one was Zane.  I knew he was going to be my tortured beyond belief vampire who I would absolutely adore and we started seeing hints of that and his softer side with Yvette’s story.

This wasn’t a bad addition to the story, but I just wasn’t feeling the Yvette and Haven as a couple.
