Iris’ Thoughts

There are certain authors on my auto-buy list. By that I mean authors whose new releases I purchase sight unseen.Β  Christine Feehan happens to be one of those authors. That being said, this was not one of my favorite books by Feehan. The Ghost Walkers series is a long running one and it’s pretty fantastic if I do say so myself. So of course I expected nothing less in this the 11th book in the series.

Although filled with action and great characters, I found it a bit slow to really get started. The story just seemed to drag on far longer than I felt was necessary. That being said, eventually the story did pick up. However, I still I found a lot of the dialogue to be redundant and unnecessary. At times, even the main character comes across as a real jerk and not likeable.

Perhaps it was wrong timing for me. I just couldn’t seem to get in to the story. Do I give up on it entirely and call it a day? I’m thinking no. On the off chance that maybe it was a fluke and I was just not in the right frame of mind for it, I’ve decided to wait a couple of months and try rereading it. Feehan had never let me down before Viper Game so I see no reason why this time would be different. So my current recommendation is Read at your own risk.

IN HER WORDS:
I’ve been a writer all of my life — it is who I am. I write for myself and always have. The ability to create pictures and emotions with words is such a miracle to me. I read everything; I mean everything! All kinds of books, even encyclopedias. I am fascinated by the written word and I love storytellers. It is a great privilege to be counted one myself.
